From the beginning of his training, Havelock Vetinari had been very rule-conscious. He had no interest in the political machinations of his aunt, Lady Roberta Meserole, instead conscientiously applying himself to his studies. He believes that rules and regulations are there for a reason, and follows them near-religiously.
He does not have the initiative of his other self, and so is content merely to stay within the syllabus taught to him – and thus he is looked on with far greater favour by his superiors. In physical exercises, he is only average, but his dedication means that he receives excellent results for theory. He passed all practical examinations with fair grades, but a tendency towards being accident-prone makes him somewhat nervous. However, the Guild believed him ready, and sent him out on his first professional assignment a few days after he turned nineteen.
Two days later, his body was found on the river Ankh.
Personality: Havelock is still quiet and introverted, though this is more due to shyness than anything. He is clever, and well-educated with it, but not so shrewd or observant as his other self. He is also accident-prone and fairly unlucky, and knows it, which makes him less than confident in his own abilities – which, all things considered, are still reasonably impressive.
Differences from canon: He is dead. He is also nineteen, not twenty. He did not take the initiative with his training as before, and thus does not have such great expertise with stealth and combat – direct confrontation was not expected of assassins, and so this Havelock has little to no training in actual fighting. He is less self-assured, and easier to embarrass – although it is still tricky to see what he's thinking. And the poor boy is accident-prone. Odd, for someone otherwise physically fit and well-trained.
